Spanish

Intent

At Grafton Primary School, our Spanish curriculum aims to foster a life-long love of learning languages. This is achieved by introducing children to the rich culture and language of Spain and the wider Spanish-speaking world. We want pupils to develop their curiosity, confidence and resilience when communicating in a new language, promoting global awareness and cultural appreciation in an increasingly interconnected world.

Our approach reflects the National Curriculum for Key Stage 2 Modern Foreign Languages, ensuring that children engage in purposeful communication, broaden their vocabulary, understand basic grammar and develop independence in language learning.

The Language Angels scheme is used for Spanish teaching in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.
