Year 5 Newsletter 28th June 2019
This week in Year 5 we have been doing lots of great work as part of our Rights Respecting Week.
Monday was our Global Citizenship Day where the children learned all about the importance or recycling and climate change.
On Tuesday the focus was on Diversity. 5 Rowan and 5 Maple were visited by Andy Lapthorne- a British wheelchair tennis player. The children enjoyed finding out about his tennis career and were really inspired by him. 5 Alder and 5 Redwood worked with Konflux, a theatre group, where they learned all about how being different was great! The classes worked really hard to complete 'a play in a day' and enjoyed performing to Year 5 and 6.
On Wednesday the theme was Health and the children learned about the importance of looking after their teeth and the impact that smoking has on the body. Wednesday evening was the Summer Fete-lots of the Year 5 children came to give Mr Geary a good soaking!
On Thursday the focus was on identity. The children wore their own clothes to school to represent their identity and did lots of work based on culture. Year 5 wrote letters to some pupils in Wales to find out about their school life.
Finally on Friday we visited Robert Clack Secondary School. The children did a variety of exciting lessons which finished with a P.E session. Throughout the day, the behaviour was impeccable and the staff commented on how impressed they were with the behaviour and knowledge of the pupils.
Have a great weekend everyone,
The Year 5 Team
