Geography

The teaching of Geography will ensure that geographical enquiry and skills are used when developing knowledge and understanding of places, patterns and processes, and environmental change and sustainable development.  In the teaching of Geography, children will be encouraged to ask lots of questions about geography. These aspects are developed through the study of places and themes set out in Topic work.  Learning takes place both inside and outside of the classroom to provide children with opportunities to use geographical skills and resources such as maps, atlases, aerial photographs and ICT, to answer these questions. Children will learn the vocabulary needed to talk about geographical ideas.

During Key Stage 2 children investigate a variety of people, places and environments in the UK and abroad, and start to make links between different places in the world. They find out how people affect the environment and how they are affected by it.
