The highlight of this week was Thursday – World Book Day! All the children looked fabulous in their costumes. As part of the day the children were given time to enjoy a book together and we also launched a readathon. The children have until Easter to read as many books as they can. Please encourage them to collect some sponsors for this.
This week year three have been continuing their work on the Ancient Egyptians, looking at the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb by Howard Carter. In class they acted out the discovery of the tomb before investigating the different artefacts found in it. We have also started working on our Ancient Egyptian show which we will perform for parents at the end of the term. In literacy we have started looking at traditional tales, focussing on the story of Cinderella and in maths we have been learning about measuring distance. We have also started our new science topic, looking at plants and their lifecycles.
Please note that from next week there will be no paper homework given for maths. All homework for maths will be set on the Mathletics or Times Table Rock Stars websites.
If you haven’t yet handed in your form for the trip to Barking Park please make sure they are in by next week. If you have any questions about the trip please contact your child’s class teacher.
Next Friday (15th March) is Red Nose Day when your child can dress in red to come to school for a donation of £1.
