Last week we started our new topic of the Great Fire of London. In Literacy we read the book Sammy the Street Dog, which told the story of the Great Fire through Sammy's eyes. We learnt great new vocabulary including 'chaos awaited', 'raging fire', and 'matted from soot'. This will help us for when we write our own story this week.

We had a visit from the Fire Brigade. Lauren came in and taught us how to be safe at home. This included who to ring if we see a fire,  how to be able to spot a hazard before it happens and what to do if there is a fire at home. There is a link on our website for a free smoke detector and fire health check for your home.

In Maths we started our new topic of Length. Children have been using rulers and metre rulers to find the measurements of different objects in the classroom. They have also been sorting objects and measurements from shortest to longest.

Just a reminder, please can all children have their pe kits in school.
