Another busy week has gone by in Year 1!
In Literacy, we have continued exploring the story ‘The Magic Porridge Pot’ by Rosie Dickens. The children have really enjoyed writing instructions on how to make porridge using a variety of time conjunctions. We have also been learning how to make comparisons between the texts, ‘The Magic Porridge Pot’ and ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears’.
In Phonics, we have been reading and writing words containing the sounds ‘wh’ and ‘ue’.
In Maths, we have continued learning about subtraction. This week, the children have really impressed us with their ability to answer subtraction word problems.
In Science, we have continued exploring different types of materials. The children had so much fun making their own bath bombs using a variety of different materials. Take a look at us making them! The Year 1 team will be selling the children’s bath bombs for £1 each at the Christmas Fayre next Tuesday.
In Design and Technology, the children have loved designing their own puppets of characters from traditional tales.
In Music, we have been practising our songs for our Christmas Performance. Please keep practising the songs at home.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
