It has been a very exciting week for Year 1!
In Literacy, we have been reading the story ‘The Magic Porridge Pot’ by Rosie Dickens. The children have really enjoyed exploring the book and had so much fun acting out parts of the story. We have also designed and made our own bowl of porridge - they were delicious!
In Phonics, we have been practising reading and writing words with alternative spellings ‘oy’ and ‘ir’.
In Maths, we have continued learning about subtraction. This week, the children have been focussing on finding the difference. The children have really impressed us with their ability to subtract numbers using a number line.
In Science, we have continued learning about ‘Everyday Materials’. The Children have really enjoyed classifying and identifying objects made out of glass, rock and brick.
In Design and Technology, the children have loved exploring and learning about different types of puppets. This week we have been practising our cutting, joining, and sewing skills.
In Music, we have been practising our songs for our Christmas Performance.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
