It has been a very busy week for Year 1!
In Literacy, we have continued exploring the traditional tale ‘Hansel and Gretel’. This week the children have been learning about letter writing and have really enjoyed writing a letter to dad from Hansel or Gretel. Take a look at some of the children’s fantastic models of the sweet cottage which they completed for homework.
In Phonics, we have been reading and writing words containing the sounds ou and ea.
In Maths, we have been learning about subtraction. The children have really impressed us with their ability to work out subtraction word problems using ten frames, practical objects and the part-whole model.
In Science, we have continued learning about ‘Everyday Materials’. The Children have really enjoyed sorting objects into wooden, metal and plastic groups.
In History, the children have been learning about the importance of Remembrance Day. In Design and Technology, the children have loved exploring and learning about different types of puppets. The children cannot wait to design and create their own puppets!
We would like to thank all of the parents and carers again for their amazing efforts helping the children with their homework projects. They are displayed in the Year 1 corridor and look fantastic!
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
