It has been a very exciting week for Year 1! In Village and Yard, the children have been preparing for Remembrance Day by making a collage of a remembrance poppy. Take a look at our remembrance poppy!
In Literacy, we have continued exploring the traditional tale ‘Hansel and Gretel’. The children have really enjoyed thinking of exciting adjectives to describe both the candy house and the witch’s looks and actions. The children’s ‘Beware of the Witch’ posters were very impressive! That wicked witch!
In Phonics, we have been practising reading and writing words containing adjacent consonants. We have also practised reading and spelling all high frequency words learned so far.
In Maths, we have been learning how to find and make numbers to 10. The children have really impressed us with their ability to solve addition word problems.
In Science, we have continued learning about ‘Everyday Materials’. The Children have really enjoyed exploring and learning about different types of materials which we can find in the school.
In History, the children have loved learning about the story of Guy Fawkes and the gunpowder plot. We had lots of fun creating fireworks pictures during our Computing lessons.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
