Y1 News Story
Welcome back Year 1! This week has been a very exciting week because Glastonbabies visited our school. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching an interactive Jack and the beanstalk performance. It was a wonderful way to introduce our Literacy topic and the children loved it!
In Literacy, we have been planning and writing a recount of the Glastonbabies performance using interesting adjectives and conjunctions to extend our sentences. The children have also really enjoyed exploring the book, ‘Jack and The Beanstalk’ and had so much fun exploring the different character's behaviour and asking the giant questions through hot seating.
In Maths, we have been learning how to read and understand times to the hour and half past. The children have really impressed us with their ability to draw hands on a clock face to show different times.
In Science, we have started our new Topic, ‘A walk in the park’. The Children have been learning the names of common wild and garden plants.
We would like to remind all parents and carers to make sure children are reading at home on a daily basis and bringing their Reading Records into school every day.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
