year 1 News Story

Friday 11th January 2019

Welcome back Year 1! This week has been a very exciting week. We are really enjoying learning about our new Topic ‘Marvellous Machines’. In History, we have learned about a famous person and event from history – Neil Armstrong and the moon landing. The children really enjoyed exploring who Neil Armstrong was and why he was famous.

In Literacy, the children have been busy writing a recount of their Christmas holidays. We have been working really hard on making our sentences more interesting and detailed by using time connectives, adjectives and conjunctions.

In Maths, we have been learning about patterns, multiples and missing numbers. The children really impressed us with their ability to find the missing number by counting in the correct multiple. They also loved making their own patterns!

In Science, children have been learning that some materials are natural and some are man-made.

We would like to remind all parents and carers that PE Lessons have now started. If your child has not brought in their full P E Kits already, please ensure they bring it in as soon as possible.

Have a lovely weekend.
