New News Story
Friday 9th November 2018
This week, Year 1 really enjoyed our visit from the school care taker. The children had a wonderful experience identifying and discussing everyday materials as part of our Science topic.
In Literacy, the children have really enjoyed exploring the story of Hansel and Gretel. They have been learning how to use adjectives in their descriptive writing. All of the children have produced fantastic ‘Beware of the Witch’ posters where they were able to write sentences using exciting adjectives to describe the witch’s looks and actions. They should be very proud of themselves!
In Maths, we have been learning about subtraction. The children have really impressed us with their ability to answer subtraction calculations using a number line.
In RE, the children have really enjoyed learning about Diwali. We had lots of fun reading and acting out the story of Rama and Sita. In History, the children have also been learning about the story of Guy Fawkes and the gunpowder plot.
We would like to remind all parents and carers to make sure children are reading at home on a daily basis and bringing their Reading Records in to school every day.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
