New News Story
Friday 12th October 2018
This week has been a very exciting week in Year 1. In Literacy, the children been learning about Poetry. They have been learning to recognise the difference between poetry and stories as well as exploring rhythm and rhyme. The children really enjoyed reading and acting out poems to the rest of their class.
In Maths, we have been carrying on learning about addition. The children have really impressed us with their ability to answer addition sums using a number line. In Science, Children have been describing and comparing a variety of different smells, identifying which were the most and least liked by the class.
In Geography, the children have really enjoyed learning about a special type of map called ‘aerial view’. The children were able to create a fantastic aerial view map of their own classroom. In Art, children have been continuing their learning about what portraits and self-portraits are. The children loved completing a self-portrait of themselves by drawing the other half of the face.
We would like to remind all parents and carers to make sure children are reading at home on a daily basis and bringing their Reading Records in to school every day.
Have a lovely weekend.
