New News Story 31/01/19

Dear parents and carers,

This week the children have been learning all about Chinese New Year. We have learnt about how this special time of year is celebrated, homes prepared and why gifts are given. We carried the Chinese New Year theme through in our literacy reading books about the festival and also about the Great Race to see which animal the year would be named.

In phonics our 2 sounds this week were 'y'- yoghurt and yellow and 'Z' -zebra and zig-zag. These are the last of the phonemes. From next week our focus will be on digraphs (two letters that make one sound) for example 'zz' - buzz and 'qu' - queen. This weeks HFW were; you and they.

In maths we have looked at adding one more to 11 and 12. we have used a number line to make our jumps counting as we go. We also talked about the terms 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc linking back to the Great Race.

Next week we would like to invite you to our stay and play session Friday 7th February @

Blue and Yellow- 9.15-10.00

Green and Red- 2.15-3.00

Have a lovely weekend and see you Monday.
