A busy week in Reception!
Dear parents and carers,
This week has been a very exciting week in our year group.
In Literacy we have continued learning about Diwali and the children have had the opportunity to find out a little bit more about this celebration from a very special guest. A big thank you to Mrs Chauhan who accepted our invitation and came to tell us the amazing story of Rama and Sita!
In Maths, they have been learning all about the number five. The children have been really busy accessing a variety of activities and games to help them master number five.
In Phonics we've learned three new sounds: 't’, ‘p’ and ‘i’. Help your children to think of and write words beginning with these sounds.
Last week our Maths Pandas have had the opportunity to spend their first weekend with four of our reception children. Remember, this is a fun opportunity for our children to highlight the importance of Mathematics.
In class we try to promote more independence with all the children, so any practising of putting on coats, hats, scarves and shoes would be fantastic! Please remember to label your children's belongings.
Next week on Friday is Children in Need Day, when children can wear spotty clothes to school for a donation of 50p.
Have a lovely and restful weekend!
Below you can see photos of some of our children making Diwali Diyas. A Diwali Diyas is a small lamp that is lit especially at Diwali (New Year's in India).
