Reception Newsletter 3rd May
This week we have been reading ‘Superworm’ by Julia Donaldson, and it has inspired us to be superstar learners.
As we read ‘Superworm’ we thought about what made a good superhero, and have created some superheroes of our own.
‘Superworm is super-long’ so we have been learning to compare and measure length.
We have carried on learning our Phase 3 sounds, and this week we read and wrote words with the diagraph ee and trigraph igh. Our High Frequency Words this week are: could, it’s and what.
The children have many opportunities to read in school. We share books as a whole class, in smaller guided groups, and on a one to one basis. Please remember to read with your child at home regularly. Once you have read make a comment in their Reading Book- anyone who has three comments from home in one week gets a Reading At Home certificate.
‘Snakes Alive’ came to visit Reception this week, bringing lots of interesting minibeasts and creatures for us to meet. We got the chance to touch a hissing cockroach and some of us were even brave enough to hold a snake!
Evie-Rae has made us all proud by earning a Gold Award. She always goes out of her way to make sure others feel respected, safe and happy. We are lucky to have such a thoughtful person in Reception.
