This week in Reception the children have planted seeds and over time we will watch and monitor the seed growth. This linked with our text of the week, ‘The Tiny Seed’. The book looks at the different elements in nature that could prevent a seed from growing and also what encourages a seed to grow.
In Phonics we have been learning the following new sounds; j, v and w.
The following words have been added to your HFW wallets; ‘are’, ‘and’, ‘come’. Please you’re your child to practise these sounds and words over the weekend at home to reinforce what your child has been learning in class.
In Maths we have been learning about symmetry. The children have enjoyed painting symmetrical butterflies, making faces symmetrical by drawing the second half of their faces and creating the mirror image of a pattern using numicon shapes.
