Hello and welcome back! We have had started the new term in a prehistoric spirit and we all enjoyed our Stone Age Day. It was a fun and productive day as we have learnt a lot of new things. Our visitor, Gary took us on a trip back in time and taught us how people in the Stone Age lived. Children loved taking part in a variety of enjoyable activities, such as deer hunting or identifying a variety of prehistoric artefacts. They worked in two tribes and competed against each other. All the children looked absolutely stunning wearing their Stone Age costumes. We would like to remind all the Parents/Cares to keep the costumes as the children will wear them for the performance at the end of this half term.
In Literacy this week children continued working on free-verse poems. They have written their own free- verse poem using different poetic devices, such as similes, personifications or repetitions.
In Maths, children have learnt how to calculate the perimeter of 2D shapes. They drew their own shapes, measured the lengths of their sides and worked out the perimeters.
In Science our new topic this half term will be Rocks and Soils. Pupils will investigate the features of rocks and soils. They will also learn about different types of soils and rocks.
We would like to inform the Parents/Carers that our Stone Age Play – Back in Time will take place on the following days:
Thursday 24th May at 2pm in the KS2 hall for Cedar and Chestnut Parents/Carers
Friday 25th May at 2pm in the KS2 hall for Aspen and Birch Parents/Carers
We look forward to seeing you there.
Have a lovely weekend.
