It was a very busy week in Year 3. In Literacy, we continued working on traditional tales. Children got familiar with the story of Cinderella, so they were able to retell it in writing. They worked hard using effective, imaginative vocabulary in their stories and wrote in paragraphs.
In Maths, children practised their multiplication facts. They counted in multiples of 2, 4 and 8. Pupils also learnt how to use halving to recall the division facts for the 4 times table and 8 times table.
In Science, we continued learning about Light and Dark. This week, we have been learning how shadows are formed. Pupils found out that shadows are similar in shape to the objects forming them. They were also able explain, using scientific language, why some objects make better shadows than others.
Friday was our Egyptian Day. We all had so much fun! All the Year 3 Teachers absolutely loved the beautiful and creative costumes the children wore. It was the day packed with so many exciting activities. We all participated in Dance and Drama workshops which took place along the bank of the River Nile. Later, we were taken to one of the Egyptian pyramids to discover who lived inside it. We also wrote our own secret messages using a variety of Egyptian hieroglyphs.
All the Egyptian projects the pupils brought in are absolutely amazing! We do appreciate your time and effort invested in preparing them. Thank you to all the Parents and Carers for supporting their children. We are very impressed.
The Year 3 Team.
