All the Year 3 teachers have been really impressed with the Egyptian projects we have received so far. They are amazing. Thank you to the Parents/Carers for supporting their children. The pupils have been very proud presenting their projects to the rest of the year group and so have we!
In Literacy this week, we have been looking at the features of traditional tales. Children have enjoyed comparing two different versions of the Cinderella story. We have also explored vocabulary used in fairy tales and explained what all traditional tales have in common. Children enthusiastically discussed the importance of morals in traditional tales. At the end of the week we described one of the important scenes taken from the Cinderella story.
In Maths, we have explored 2D shapes this week. Children discussed the properties of the shapes and practised drawing different shapes accurately. We also identified symmetry in 2D shapes and created our own symmetrical shapes with lines of symmetry. Pupils also learnt how to calculate perimeter and how we can use it in everyday situations.
In Topic, we have continued learning about ancient Egypt. This week we have looked at the Egyptian timeline. Children created their own Egyptians timelines and learnt the difference between BC and AD.
In Science, we explored mirrors. We described how images in a mirror may look different. Children also predicted what an image or a word might look like in a mirror.
Just a reminder: Our Egyptian Day is next Friday, 2nd February. All the Egyptian projects are also due in on this day.
