Week 4 27.01.2020
Week 4 of the half term has been another great week for Year 6.
In Literacy, we have started our new text; Ice Trap. 'Ice Trap' is the story of the great Ernest Shackleton and his extraordinary attempt at crossing the Antarctic. To begin, we have started exploring the man himself and what it would have been like to have been chosen to take part in the adventure. We have been looking at the crew members and how they might have reacted when they found a stowaway on board. The children are very excited about what is going to happen next.
In Topic, we have been looking at the different types of animals that live in the polar regions. the classes have been using the internet to research the creatures and will use this to create their own factfiles in the coning weeks.
In Science, we have started our investigation around microorganisms. Using bread, the children are investigating the different ways in which mould grows and where the best place to store bread is. Again, the children have been really engaged and excited in this lesson.
In Maths, we have spent the week going over some tests and looking at how much we have learnt so far. The children have all worked really hard this week and we have been impressed with the outcomes. There is still plenty of work to do but we are getting there!
