Friday 15th November
Well, another week has come and gone in Year 6 and it has been another great week. We have started reading Macbeth and the classes have really enjoyed getting their teeth into this classic play. We have been exploring the language used and thinking about who is to blame for the events in the opening part of the story. The children have really applied themselves and we are excited about reading what happens next.
In Maths we have spent this week looking at decimals. Using our place value knowledge, we have been multiplying and dividing them by 10, 100 and 1000. We have also been learning about rounding them, multiplying them and using this to help us to solve measurement problems. This is a really tricky area of maths but the children haven't given up.
In Science, we have been continuing to look at the heart and circulatory system. We had a very good (and exciting) lesson looking at blood. The lesson used Cheerios, marshmallows and oats...it was a lot of fun! Pictures will follow.
On Friday we took part in our Children In Need fundraiser by dressing up in something 'spotty'. Thank you to everyone for their efforts and for helping us sell plenty of badges and key rings.
Next week we will be taking part in a Mathletics November Numeracy Challenge. We would like all of the children to use Mathletics as often as possible. There will be prizes given to the classes who have the highest participation over the course of the week. These will include extra break, additional time on the iPads/Laptops and a small trophy for the winning class.
Please have a lovely weekend and remember to wrap up warm next week.
