Happy Half Term
We have reached the end of our 1st half term and what a half term it has been. The Year 6 team would like to thank you all for your ongoing support and hope you have a restful break.
In Literacy this week the children have been planning and writing their own telegrams. Taking on the role of a wounded German soldier, they had to think about what they would say to their loved ones. The children really enjoyed this task and were really engaged, especially when it came to writing them up on real telegram paper!
In Maths we have been exploring 3d shapes. We have been looking at the nets of shapes and the classes were able to make their own nets.
Our first Science topic, electricity, has come to an end and the classes have been rounding the topic off by answering some questions as well as revisiting their initial ideas and finding out how much they have learned this term.
In Topic, we continue to look at WW2 and our focus was on the role of women during the War and how propaganda was used to encourage females to join the war effort. Many children were amazed when they learned about the way society viewed females back then and happy to see that things have changed.
Our swimming lessons finished this week and the children were presented with certificates based on their achievements. We have also given out Stay on Green certificates and it was very pleasing to give out so many; keep up the good work!
Just a reminder that on Monday and Tuesday after half term Y6 will be taking part in a WW2 Workshop and children are encouraged to dress up for their day.
Beech and Mulberry-Monday
Holly and Willow- Tuesday.
It was very nice seeing many of the parents at our Meet the Teacher evenings. We hope you all have a lovely break and thanks once again for your ongoing support.
Have a lovely half term
