Another fun and busy week in Year 6

The penultimate week of this half term has come and gone in a flash. On Tuesday we visited St. Edwards Academy in Romford for an exciting Education Enrichment Day. The children got a taste of secondary school life in what was a very good trip.

All of the activities that the children took part in where interesting and engaging. From learning how to say hello in Mandarin; creating their own Superheroes; using bunsen burners to catch a criminal; to using Photoshop to make our own 'fake' photos as well as trampolining, speed cup stacking and much more, the whole year group had a fantastic day.

In Literacy the focus this week was editing our work. Using our Editing Stations, the children have worked really hard to improve their own work and prove that everyone can be a writer. We have also continued reading Friend or For and finished the week with a moral dilemma; one which created some very healthy discussion! Is it always right to do the right thing? Is it ever right to do the wrong thing?

In Maths we have been looking at 3D shapes and we will carry this on next week. Our focus in Topic was Rationing and how it was sold to the British public via some clever poster campaigns. In Art we have been using blending, mixing and building up as skills to paint our own Blitz background and we are looking forward to seeing the end results next week. In Science we carried out an investigation that was planned last week and some interesting findings were found.

Just a reminder that Parents' Evening is on Wednesday and Thursday next week and individual photos are taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thank you for your continued support and we hope you all have a lovely weekend.
