Week 5, Autumn Term, 2019
The children in Year 6 continue to work extremely hard and the teachers are very happy with the work they are producing. In Literacy, we have been thinking about writing our own chapters to the story, 'Friend or Foe'. The children have been using their knowledge of the text, as well as their predicting skills, to plan and write what they think will happen next.
We are all excited to read what the children think will happen to David and Tucky: who is trying to save David from drowning? Will the boys be rescued? Who by? There are many questions to be answered and, once the children have written their version of events, all will be revealed!
In our Maths lessons we have been focussing on division and the different methods that can be used. We have also included tricky word problems to really challenge the children. Remember to keep learning your tables.
In Topic lessons we are continuing to look at what happened to the children during WW2. We have been using different sources to give us information and using this to help us build a picture of what life would have been like for 10-year-olds during the war.
Our Science lesson this week saw the classes planning their own investigations around electricity and next week they will be carrying out the different experiments.
We have been swimming at Becontree Heath Leisure Centre and will continue our lessons up until half term. In Art the children have been using watercolours to create a background for Blitz pictures whilst our focus in Reading sessions is on the skill of prediction.
Next Tuesday sees us going to St Edwards Academy for an Educational Enrichment Day and we are looking forward to the 4 activities that the classes are going to take part in.
Please remember to book your Parents' Evening times.
Have a lovely weekend
