Another fantastic week has flown by in year 6
We have been reading more of Friend or Foe in Literacy and the children have been looking at the different characters. There has been some brilliant descriptions and the whole year group seem to be fascinated by WW2 and evacuations. We have reached a cliffhanger in the story and, although we will have to wait a while to find out what happens next, the children are fully engaged in the story.
In Maths, we have been looking at written methods for addition and subtraction. Again this is an important area and the classes have been working really hard on setting their work out correctly and using the inverse operations to double-check those answers.
In Topic, we have been focussing on the start of WW2 and the reasons that it happened. We have been looking at the main protagonists as well as the events leading up to the outbreak. The children have been really interested in finding out why, how and when and using a variety of different sources to research the people behind the war.
Our Science lessons have seen us looking at circuits and how to draw them correctly. We have looked at the symbols and used these to correctly identify if a circuit is going to work. We then used equipment to test our answers out.
Next week sees us starting our swimming lessons at Becontree Heath Leisure Centre. Your child will have a letter explaing what they need to bring. Please come and speak to us if you have any questions about the lessons.
