Hi all and welcome back to Year 6. We hope that you have had a restful summer and are ready and raring to go; the teachers certainly are.
In Literacy, we have started reading 'Friend or Foe' by Michael Morpurgo; a story set in World War 2. We are looking forward to reading about David and his best friend Tucky. We have been writing character descriptions using evidence from the text and exploring the feelings of the main characters.
Our Maths lessons are starting with some work on place value; one of the most important areas of the subject. The children have also been working on their reasoning skills as well as their times tables.
In Topic, we have been looking at World War 2 and what it was like for children during this time. Our first lesson saw the children examining various artefacts and thinking about possible uses. Our first Science topic is electricity and we spent our first lesson investigating circuits and how to use electricity safely.
The children have started their Art lessons with a photography workshop with Bow Arts. They will be using photos and cameras to create their own pieces of art and we are looking forward to seeing their final masterpieces.
Have a lovely weekend
