Friday 8th February 2019
This week has been a busy week in Year 6. In Literacy, we have continued to read 'Ice Trap' which details the incredible expedition of Ernest Shackleton. We stopped reading at a crucial part of the story which saw Shackleton faced with a predicament... whether to stay stranded on the melting ice floe or go and risk the lives of him and his men by trying to get help. The children discussed the reasons why he should stay and go and then used this to help make their decision on what he should do.
In Maths, we have been looking at solving fraction problems. The children have looked at adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers. We have built on the work they have learnt already this year and are impressed with their skills.
In Topic, the children have been researching an Arctic animal and producing their own fact file, showcasing this information, using either Word or Publisher. The children have thought about their audience to help them decide their layout, font selection and colours to use.
We would just like to remind parents and carers that the school is open for the Meet the Teacher evening on Tuesday 12th February. We hope to see some of you there.
Enjoy your weekend,
The Year 6 team.
