Friday 1st February 2019
This week has been an exciting week in Year 6. In Literacy, we have continued to read our new test 'Ice Trap' which tells the story of Ernest Shackleton's exciting expedition. We have been looking at the descriptive language in the book and have been analysing ways in which the vocabulary can help us visualise the text. The children have then been using role play to empathise with the crew members and Shackleton himself.
In Maths, we have been learning about angles. The children have enjoyed using protractors to draw and measure the angles of 2D shapes. We have also been learning how to calculate missing angles on a straight line, in triangles and around a point.
In Topic, the children researched different Arctic animals and chose how to display their information in a fact file. The children have planned their design this week ready to produce a document using ICT next week.
We would just like to remind parents and carers that letters have been handed out this week regarding the Meet the Teacher Evening on Tuesday 12th February.
We hope you have a lovely weekend,
The Year 6 team.
