What a fantastic week the children have had!
In Literacy, the children started a new text called 'The Lost Thing'. They produced some fantastic work! They wrote predictions of what they thought the story would be about, using music and the front and back cover to develop their ideas. They followed this on by writing character descriptions focussing on our expanded noun phrases. The children then wrote diary entries from the perspective of the main character 'Shaun', thinking about his emotions on finding 'The Lost Thing'. They finally wrote their own advertisements for the books 'Federal Department of Odds & Ends' to persuade the reader using different sentence types.
In Maths, we have been looking at decimal numbers and how to convert decimals into fractions. They then looked at rounding numbers with one decimal place to whole numbers, this continued onto looking at rounding numbers with two decimal places to one decimal place. The children then learned about decimal number sequences. They were then able to apply this to problem questions in maths. The children worked extremely hard this week in this work!
In Science, we have been looking at phases of the moon and used oreo's to create the many phases of the moon, the children really enjoyed this unusual but fun and engaging lesson.
In History this week the children also found out information on Viking longboats and created fact files on how they were made and the importance of them.
We hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
