week ending 12th october
Find out what Year 5 have been up to this week.
We've had a busy week in Year 5! In Literacy, we learned how to create suspense in our writing by using techniques such as short sentences, an ellipsis, describing how our body would react and including a sensory description too.
In Maths, we have been learning how to divide and towards the end of the week we learned a formal written method called the 'bus stop' method. Learning our times tables off by heart will really help us complete division problems quicker.
In Science, we continued learning about life cycles. We focused on the life cycle of insects and created 3D diagrams of their life cycle using sugar paper and card. They are on display in our corridor so be sure to look out for them during Parents' Evening.
In Topic, we have been making props for our 'Horrible Histories' themed video that we will be making next week. If you have any cardboard at home please bring it in so we can make more props!
Thanks, Year 5 team
