Friday 1st December 2017

This week in Literacy we have planned and written a formal letter from the perspective of Manyara. The children have really enjoyed extending their vocabulary, using a thesaurus to improve their formal language and have written some wonderful letters.

In maths we have been learning about mass and have been converting between grams and kilograms. In Topic we looked closely at the life of children in Kenya. We have compared how the typical school day is both similar and different to life in Britain.

In Science children have really enjoyed their investigation into the effects of friction. They looked at how different surfaces can create friction and what effects it has upon different objects.

At the end of the week Redwood and Alder classes had a fantastic day out at the Broadway Theatre to watch the Cinderella Pantomime. The children had a lovely day and really enjoyed the show. It was a lovely experience and we would like to thank all the children for how well-behaved and respectful they were whilst representing Grafton School.

Maple and Rowan classes are looking forward to watching the pantomime on Tuesday 5th December.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Year 5 team.
