Thank you for your generous donations for International Childhood Cancer Day. It was lovely to see the children be so proud of donating and knowing that they are helping other children.
This week in English the children looked at recounts. First, we studied some examples and discussed the features of a recount. Later on in the week, we planned and wrote our own recounts about our best weekend ever or a holiday. Have a go at keeping a diary or writing about what you get up to in the half term holiday!
In maths we continued learning about fractions. We learnt how to add fractions with the same denominators and subtract fractions with the same denominators. We changed improper fractions into mixed numbers. Click here to find out more.
During our science lesson we carried out our investigation. We were finding out an answer to our question: 'At what temperature does chocolate melt the quickest?' Discuss with your child what happened and maybe have a go at setting up a similar experiment at home. (Please be careful if using boiling water, make sure your child does NOT handle boiling water or is left alone with it!)
In our history lesson we learnt about famous people from Barking and Dagenham. We used the Internet to research and made notes. We will continue learning about our local history after half term before we move on to Anglo-Saxons.
Thank you those parents/carers that came along to parents' evening this week, it was great to catch up and discuss how your child is doing and share their next steps. We hope you found it useful and can see how your child can continue their learning at home as well as in school. Please ensure your child is reading everyday as well as going on Times Table Rock Stars to practise their timetables during the half term.
Have an enjoyable half term and we will see you back in school on Monday 24th February 2020.
