In Science this week we set up our very own Tooth Decay investigation. Together we came up with questions we wanted answers to - 'Which liquid will cause tooth decay first?' and 'How long until tooth decay starts?'. Next, we wrote up what we needed and made our predictions. We then set up our investigation by using 3 hard boiled eggs (only the adults handled the eggs!), coke, water and milk. We have let the eggs sit in the liquid and will keep an eye on what happens over the next few days. What do you think will happen? Why?
During our English sessions, we used our story writing skills to help plan our very own Roman invasion inspired stories. We designed our own characters, used descriptive words to create a Celtic Village for our setting and mapped out the key parts to ensure we have a beginning, middle (problem) and an end (solution). We cannot wait to write our own stories next week.
In Maths this week we have been learning about Square numbers and Multiplication. The children worked hard by using a range of methods to help solve multiplication sums and problems. We looked at partitioning, grid method and short column method. We will continue to use our multiplication skills to help us with our division next week.
Reminder - please encourage and support your child to learn their times tables. Children will have a times table check each week along with their spellings. Learning your times tables will make solving mathematical problems much easier.
Finally, we are looking forward to our trip to Lee Valley next week. If you have any questions please ask your class teacher. 4 Elm and 4 Ash will be going on Wednesday 9th October and 4 Oak and 4 Hazel will be going on Thursday 10th October.
Have a great weekend!
