This week in our Maths lessons we have been focusing on Subtraction. The children worked out sums and word problems involving subtraction. Please encourage your children to use Mathletics at home to earn points and receive certificates. Check your homework books for details to access Mathletics and Times Table Rockstars. Have a go at different maths games as well as brushing up on your all important times tables.
In our English sessions, the children took part in a short drama performance. We imagined how Tranio and Livia were feeling as Mount Vesuvius erupted, destroying their beautiful city of Pompeii and how they narrowly escaped to safety. The children then used similes and descriptive language to write a character description for one of the main characters. By the end of the week, we read and compared 'Escape from Pompeii' by Christina Balit to 'Pompeii' by Karen Ball.
During our Topic sessions, the children learnt about a fierce woman called Boudicca. The children then wrote a short fact file on Boudicca and the Celts using the information they had learnt. If you would like to research more about Boudicca, the Celts and the Roman invasion, please do! We look forward to hearing/seeing what you have found out.
Lastly, trip letters went out this week for our visit to Lee Valley, please return reply slips as soon as possible. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! You can ask your child's class teacher or the office.
Have a great weekend!
