Thank you for all of your donations for Jeans for Genes day. Click here to find out more about the charity and the great work it does to help children affected by genetic disorders.
In Literacy this week we have continued to learn about Tranio and Livia from our class story, Escape from Pompeii. The children became budding story writers and wrote their own problem, resolution and ending to the story. We had a lot of happy endings as well as some not-so-happy endings! A great mix.
During our Topic lesson this week, the children spent time learning about what life was like as a Roman solider as well as learning about invasions. In Science, we learnt about the functions of the human digestive system. In 4 Oak we made our own 'digestive system' using a pair of tights, a packet of digestives, some orange juice and water. Let's just say we are glad our digestive system is on the inside of our bodies and not the outside!! Messy work!
In Maths, we used column addition to solve addition number sentences and word problems. Later on in the week we also looked at column addition with decimals. Next week, we are looking forward to learning about subtraction.
Please help your child learn their times tables and spellings. It is also vital to hear your child read and encourage reading at home. It is important children see the adults in their lives reading as well so why not grab a book and read while your child is reading too.
