As part of our Knights and Castles topic circle class have completed an exciting design and technology unit investigating trebuchets. Trebuchets were medieval weapons designed to fire large rocks against castle walls to destroy them during times of siege. During the unit, we explored wheels and axles and pivot points to create the arm swing, before creating a design for our own working models. When making our trebuchets we used measuring, sawing, gluing and drilling skills.
We are very proud of our trebuchet models and the best bit is they all actually fired our tinfoil rocks! Mrs McSheffrey tried to film one of the trebuchets firing - unfortunately she's no filmmaker! Make sure you see our trebuchet display next time you are in school.
