Attention Autism is an intervention designed by a specialist Speech and Language therapist, Gina Davis, which aims to develop natural and spontaneous communication through the use of visually based and highly stimulating activities. Every day in the Ark this is taught during 'Bucket time’ which has been a fundamental part of our learning in the Ark. The children (and adults!) find it highly motivating and due to the creative nature of the intervention, it has really developed our children's attention and early communication skills, including their spoken language. Here at Grafton we have found that Attention Autism also helps the children to understand many different concepts, such as 'big' and 'small', 'my turn' and 'your turn', number counting, names of colours and many more areas of learning. It has also helped prepare our children for occasions such as Halloween and Christmas in a fun and exciting way.
