Every child has the right to protection and freedom from war. Children under the age of 15 must not take part in war or join an army.

Message from the Senior Leadership Team

    Dear Parents/Carers,

As we reach the end of another very busy half-term, we would like to wish all our parents/carers a very happy and restful break. This week, our Year 6 children have been on a trip to the HMS Belfast in London. Following the trip, we have received some really positive comments from staff regarding the behaviour of all the children. Also our Year 2 children really enjoyed taking part in their Pirate Day on Monday. Throughout the school children have produced some amazing topic work which was displayed around the school on Thursday evening. Thank you to everyone who took the opportunity to visit our Spanish Café during our Meet the Teacher Evening on Thursday.

Finally we would like to politely remind everyone about the importance of all our children being in school whenever possible. We have a duty to continue to contact parents/carers and invite them in for meetings if their child's attendance falls below a certain point. Thank you to all our parents/carers who continue to support their child's education by ensuring their children are in school at all times.

    Mr M. Nicholson - Headteacher

Message from the Senior Leadership Team

We have come to the end of a busy week in school. The children have settled well into their new classes and the routines. We would like to take this opportunity to say welcome to our new Nursery children who have started in school this week. They all looked very keen to play, learn and explore in Nursery and we are looking forward to them coming in for their full session.

Next week, Year 4 will be having a Roman Drama day as part of their learning on the Romans. If you have a child in Year 4, please do talk to them about the Romans, carry out some research, visit the library to borrow books on the Romans and ask your child about their Roman Drama day experience.

Can I take this opportunity to remind parents that it is important to have your child/children in school on time every day. We do publish the names of the top three classes who have the best attendance each week. Two of these classes are in Year 1 this week. It would be good to see a Year 5 or Year 6 class in the top three next week. Please do remember that if your child is absent from school to phone the office and either leave a message or speak to a member of the office team. If we do not receive a message we will be calling parents to find out why your child is not in school.

Finally, can I say thank you to all the families who attended our Macmillan Coffee Event. It was great to see how our community is supporting and raising awareness of this cause. We will inform you of how much we raised. I wish you all a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you all next week.

    Message from Senior Leadership Team

     Dear Parents and Carers.

We are already three weeks into the new academic year here at Grafton and the children are enjoying learning with their new class teachers. We also welcomed our new Reception children into school this week.  A special thank you to all the parents/carers of our Reception children who joined us for lunch this week.  We hope you all enjoyed the school lunch and we know you were pleased to see how well your children have settled into their new classes.

It's a pleasure to see so many children looking so smart in their Grafton Primary School  uniform. Would you all just please make sure that everything is labelled clearly with your child's name.  Please also ensure that your child is fully equipped for the school day by sending them to school with a full P.E kit for their P. E. lessons.  Some children still do not have a P. E. kit in school and we are not always able to help the large volume of children requiring a spare kit. P.E. is a vital part of the curriculum and it is very important that all the children take part in their lessons.

Finally, we would like like to invite you all to join us for our Macmillan event on Thursday 28th September after school in the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds for a drink and a cake, to support this very worthy cause.

We hope you have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Eastbury supports teachers in delivering the National Curriculum for primary, secondary and SEND pupils. We use Eastbury’s historic rooms and gardens, and unique history to inspire curiosity through a range of hands-on and engaging learning opportunities.

The sessions are led by experienced and knowledgeable facilitators who help to build upon pupils’ knowledge with an interactive approach.

Our facilitators make learning fun for all ages and abilities. Our workshops can be tailored to meet the needs of Early Years and Special Educational Needs and Disability teaching.

This week's Article of the Week is number 29:

Every child’s education must develop their talents and abilities. It should encourage children to respect rights, parents, cultures and the environment.

    Message from Senior Leadership Team

    Dear Parents and Carers

Well done on surviving the hottest week for years! The children have been incredibly good given the tough working conditions so we want to say a big thank you to them! Please make sure your child has a water bottle in school and a sun hat to protect their heads.

As we approach the end of the year, please keep an eye on the calendar either on the website or through the School News app which has all the upcoming events listed. Next Saturday, July 1st, will be the Summer Fete and we look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

Enjoy the weekend and stay safe,

Grafton Primary School have adopted Local Authority procedures and DO NOT authorise holidays during term time.  Parents will be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice Fine of £60 per parent per child for all holidays taken during the term.  If you need to discuss this, please contact Mrs Chappell for clarification.

    Unpaid School Meals

    Dear Parents/carers,

We have successfully sought judgements (CCJs) against those parents that owe substantial amounts to the school, for unpaid school meals.  This means that the school will no longer be carrying those debts, and will be able to use those funds appropriately.

Also, thank you to those of you that manage your child's account and keep your child's account in credit.

                                                                Grafton Book Bags

We are collecting old or unused Grafton Book Bags for our new intake. If you have any Grafton Book Bags at home that are no longer being used, we would be very grateful if you would bring them in to the school office so that they can be offered to children joining our school.  Many thanks in advance.
